⚡ Instant Web Reader Guide: save any webpage offline in 2 taps (works on iPhone and Mac)

Hey Reader! 👋

For this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to quickly save webpages to read later by adding them to your Reading List in Safari.

As a busy parent, you know the value of offline access to information on the go. Fortunately, you can save webpages on your iPhone or Mac for offline reading. This lets you catch up on articles anytime, anywhere.

😖 The issue

Most parents struggle to track important online info. They lose track of webpages or forget to save them. This is frustrating when you need to quickly access something, only to find you didn't save it anywhere.

Using bookmarks or screenshotting webpages is not always efficient. It doesn’t allow you to access updated versions or properly manage what you’ve saved.

There’s a better way to save webpages.

The Reading List feature on iPhone and Mac lets you save webpages so you can access them anytime. By simply adding webpages to your Reading List, you can pull them up later—even without an internet connection.

The process is simple, quick, and ensures you're not stuck looking for a webpage when you need it. Let’s break down how this works and how you can start using your Reading List today.

Let’s dive in!

👇 Give it a try

Add a webpage to Reading List on iPhone 📱

Adding webpages to your iPhone's Reading List is helpful for having access to them later.

This feature saves the entire webpage. So, you won't lose access to important info, even if you go offline.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Open a webpage in Safari on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with the upward-facing arrow), then tap Add to Reading List.

Safari saves the link and the webpage so you can read it later.

Check Safari Settings to automatically save items in your Reading List offline.

Go to Settings > Safari. Scroll down to Reading List. Make sure Automatically Save Offline is turned on.

View your Reading List on iPhone 📱

On your iPhone, viewing your Reading List is simple. It's an organized way to keep track of everything you've saved.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Open Safari on your iPhone, tap the Bookmarks icon (the open book icon), then tap the Reading List tab (the glasses icon).
  • Scroll through the list and tap any webpage to open and read it.

Following these steps ensures you never lose access to the important content you’ve saved. It’s a simple process that makes reading later a breeze.

You can also follow the same steps to add and manage saved webpages in Reading List on iPad.

Manage a Reading List on your Mac 💻

Managing your Reading List on your Mac keeps your saved webpages organized. It prevents you from being overwhelmed by needing to keep dozens of open tabs in Safari.

In the Safari app on your Mac, do any of the following:

  • Add a webpage to your Reading List: Move the pointer over the Smart Search field (the address bar), then click the One-Step Add button (it looks like a plus +) that appears at the left end of the field.
  • Show or hide your Reading List: Click the Sidebar button in the Safari toolbar, then click Reading List. To hide the list, click the Sidebar button again.
  • To auto-save all webpages in your Reading List, choose Safari > Settings. Click Advanced, then select Save articles for offline reading automatically.
  • To remove a webpage from your Reading List, control-click (right-click) the summary in the sidebar. Then, choose Remove Item.

A streamlined Reading List makes for a more enjoyable, stress-free reading experience.

Read from Your Reading List on Mac 💻

Now that you've added webpages to your Reading List, viewing them on your Mac is the final step.

In the Safari app on your Mac, do any of the following:

  • Search your Reading List: Enter text in the search field above the list of webpage summaries. You may have to scroll to see the search field.
  • Read the next webpage in your list: Keep scrolling at the end of a Reading List webpage—no need to click the next webpage summary in the sidebar.
  • Hide webpages you’ve read: Click the Unread button above the list of webpage summaries. Click the All button to show webpages you’ve read in your list. You may have to scroll to see the buttons.
  • Mark a webpage as read or unread: Control-click (right-click) the webpage summary in the sidebar, then choose Mark as Read or Mark as Unread.

By using your Reading List on both your iPhone and Mac, you create a seamless way to save and access content, no matter where you are.
